Terms and Conditions
Please observe the following terms of business regarding reservation deposits and final payment:-
Upon Booking – A deposit will be required to secure advanced bookings. Your Booking will not be secure without submission of a valid deposit and as such, your room could be re-let. Deposits can be made by a cheque, debit or credit card. The amount of deposit will typically be equal to one nights stay. Please note that deposits paid by any means must be regarded as non-refundable and may be drawn at any time up until guests’ departure.
Credit/debit Card policy – To help reduce credit card fraud, Credit/debit card deposits will be subject to an authorisation check. This involves charging a small amount from your card. Please note that the amount taken for authorisation does not constitute a deposit. This amount will be deducted from either the balance owed upon departure or any monies to be recovered (see further terms below). Handling charges, for card payments will be applied. Charges will be a percentage of the value of the booking, dependant upon the type of card presented. This charge also applies to any other monies, which may need to be recovered (see further terms below). Card handling charges for authorisation will not be charged to your account.
Upon departure - Final payment can be made by card, cash or cheque. Standard bank card handling charge (3.75% Visa and 60p Debit Cards.) will be added to final payment made by card.

Early departures - A charge may be incurred of up to the full value of the booking for unscheduled departure of guests. The remaining length of stay left and whether or not the room can be re-booked for the remaining period will determine the value of any charge incurred
Cancellation of bookings - At least 5 days notice is required for cancellation of bookings. Cancellations within this time will result in loss of the deposit. Addtional charges of up to the full value of the booking may be applied if the room cannot be re-booked in sufficient time.
Damage to property - House rules are displayed in all of our rooms. Guests should take note and abide by these rules. Proprietors of Thornbank House reserve the right to apply a charge for any damage caused by guests to any part of the property, its contents or loss of earnings as a result of damage. Guests displaying unruly behaviour will be asked to leave.
